FCRCC has hosted the Women’s and Spring Knockout regatta weekend for many years. 2022 was no different, it was a day packed with excitement and smiles. Everyone, even those just passing by, seemed to do a little jig with a big grin as they went by the music tent (which doubled as the race information and announcements tent).
This year’s Knockout had a memorial for Jackie Webber, the founder of the event, who passed away in the spring of 2020. Jackie’s positive impact on our paddling community was immense. As the eyes were wiped dry it was time to do the day just as Jackie envisioned, and the day of fun filled races and festivities begun.
At the end of the day, when the boats were all put away and the jobs were done, False Creek Masters raised their glasses to our teammate’s upcoming swearing in to officially be a Canadian.
