DRAGON ZONE, June 24-25, 2023
FC Masters kicked off the summer racing season at the continent’s flagship dragon boat festival, the 35th Concord Pacific Champion Race. We participated in the women’s races along with a total of 39 teams racing. After 2 qualifying races on Saturday, the top 12 women’s and top 6 open teams were invited to race in the Guts and Glory Grand Finals.
This is the biggest race of its type in the world, up to 18 boats race a 2K long distance time trial with turns against each other at each end of the race course. Master’s were invited to race having the 7th best overall women’s time. After this gruelling and exciting race Master’s finished in 5th spot overall.
After a second day of racing on Sunday the Master’s team raced in the Premier Women’s grand final. Again placing 5th overall for the Women’s division. It was an amazing day spent in the paddling community sharing the joys and frustrations of racing and competition. We can’t wait till next year to once again showcase our hard work, improvements and dedication to the sport.
